The Sound of Speed

Seattle Area Band

Biography

The Sound of Speed exploded from the remnants of Seattle’s pop-punk underground scene, and on the heels of their new release, “Light,” the sparks are still flying.

The S.O.S. deliver melody-laden, heavy Brit-pop influenced songs, full of dynamics, bristling with energy, combining an uncompromising, rock-steady power with a flavor reminiscent of all that was good about The Smiths, Depeche Mode, New Order, Jesus and Mary Chain and The Cure.

Songwriters Carlos Pulido, (a.k.a. Omega Man) and Varun Jhaveri are both versatile multi-instrumentalists who have played together in Seattle bands for years (first, in synth pop band Subterrania, and later in the shoegaze influenced Swerve) before forming The Sound Of Speed in 2003.

Carlos creates everything from piano-based ballads to space rock anthems, while Varun supplies his crooning angst-charged vocals. Together with solid rock drummer aNdi pUzi and long-time Seattle bassist Tim Spencer (The Loafers, Wilgus) The Sound Of Speed delivers a sonic feast of powerful hooks exploding in layers of sparkling guitar and synthesizer chords, rocking sassy beats, and addictive melodies resounding in subtle, yet satisfying, desperation.
